We received the BEST news of all on Friday: WE GET TO MOVE IN ON WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!! Those are the words I have been waiting to hear for 6 months! We have started packing already. I cannot believe that next week at this time I will get to wake up in my BRAND NEW HOME!!! We are soooo blessed!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Lots of things are happening at the house this week. We officially have water to the house. Today Choctaw Plumbing is installing toilets, faucets, and various fixtures inside the house. Counter tops from AG&M are also coming today, along with the stone for the outside and around the fireplace. Electrical has been pushed to the end of the week. Metro Appliances delivered our dishwasher, microwave and trash compactor yesterday. Hopefully I will have some pictures next week.

Mishaps and Deadlines

So many things, good and not-so-good,  have been happening on the Lane lately. The painter are almost finished after being there 3 weeks(it was only supposed to take 2). The Hubs and I, along with some help from his parents, painted the girls rooms yesterday. Our counter tops were delivered on Thursday, only to find out it was the wrong granite and our granite had been delivered to another house. Now everything has been pushed back. Hopefully counter tops will come early this week, then plumbing and finally electrical. Todd said his goal is to have us in by Halloween. Let's hope and pray it happens.

Mom, Can We Live Here Now?

This is the question my 7 year old asked after seeing that all of the cabinets in the house had been installed. Silly girl!!! They ask when we are going to move in ALL OF THE TIME!!!! I have to admit, I am just as excited as they are.

As promised, here are the pictures of the finished cabinets. Enjoy!!!!

All Trimmed Up

The tile in the master bathroom is complete so we have now moved on to the trim work, which consists of baseboards, closet layouts, pantry shelves and cabinet installation. Cabinet delivery was delayed a day so the trim work began a day late. Upon inspection of the cabinets, we discovered they had been built for 10ft ceilings; we have 9ft ceilings. So the cabinet guys came and picked up the upper kitchen cabinets, about 4-6, and took them to be redone. As of yesterday, the cabinets were being installed, the chalkboard area had been framed in, lockers in the mud room were completed and the windowsills and baseboards were all finished. Today they should be working on the closet shelving. They have a lot of their tools and wood in the house so it is hard to take pictures. But as soon as they are finished I will let everyone see.

More Pictures

When I posted yesterday I only put up the pictures from my video camera because my phone would not cooperate and let me download pictures to my computer. My son, somehow, figured it out today(he's 15 months!!!!). So here are a few more pics to look at.

6 More Weeks

Hello all!!!! August got a little crazy on us. We went on vacation and the girls are now back in school. Things are moving along nicely on the Lane. The brick work has been completed. Insulation, sheet rock and texture were finished middle of August. Our front and back porches, sidewalks and driveway were poured a couple of weeks ago.

The new front door was put in Tuesday, as well as the master bathtub. Tile also started in the master shower that day.

Tile should be completed this week. Cabinets and trim will be started next week and paint will be the week after that. As soon as we give Todd our choice of stone(hopefully tonight), they will set the posts on the front and back porches. We have been told 6 more weeks, which puts us moving in sometime in October.

Slowing Down

Things at the house are starting to slow down, but in a good way. The brick is almost completed. We ran out and they delivered more this morning. I don't know if the brickers will start on it again today or tomorrow. Stain is going down on the concrete this morning and a second "accent" color is being added this afternoon. I will be headed over in a bit to check it out. I met with Bonnie, Todd's designer, this morning and we picked out the paint colors for the interior. I need to run and get some sample cards and I will post a picture of the colors. After much discussion we have decided to paint our kitchen cabinets instead of stain them. We are going with maple cabinets and you won't see any woodgrain if we stain them, plus painting them will be cheaper and help keep us on budget(for now!).

Working hard to get the floors "ultra clean" and ready for stain.

Here is the front of the house with brick!

Brick-Laying

Things on the house are starting to move slower now. The brick was delivered last Friday and brick-laying has begun. They should be finished by the end of this week or beginning of next week. Drywall has been put up in the garage so that the garage door can be installed. We are meeting on Wednesday to talk about the floor stains. As soon as we find a stain we like the floors will be next.

The Bright Side

The walk-thru with Todd went smoothly. We now know where all of the light switches, ceiling fans, plug-ins, cable lines, phone lines and, most importantly, interior and exterior lights are all going to go!! The electrician should be starting sometime today. YAY!!!!!!

I was also told today that we get to meet with the cabinet guy next week to talk about design and layout. Todd said he will draw it all up for us to see before he starts building them. YAY!!!!! YAY!!!!!

Rain is a Good Thing!

I am soooo happy that it rained here today. The work has begun on the inside of the house now and hopefully today's cooler weather helped some. The fireplace was installed on friday, along with 2 exterior doors. Our final window came in last Thursday and was installed yesterday. The HVAC system installation began yesterday as well and should be finished up today. Our insurance company came to inspect the house progress this morning. We are meeting with Todd and the electrician tomorrow to discuss where all of the lights are going to go.

Progress is a good thing

Here is a picture of the completed roof that I promised.
Our meeting yesterday with Todd was smooth and exciting. He said he would get the fireplace ordered. The propane lines have been ran in the house to the proper places. We should be getting the HVAC installed(or at least started) today or tomorrow. We talked about outside lighting(which I haven't even really thought about yet) placement. We will be meeting with the electrician next week sometime. Todd also said that his designer will be back from vacation next week and I am on her list of people to talk to. I am soooo ready!!!! I'm sure Kevin is too so that I will quit pestering him with all of my girly decorating ideas. Have a Happy Thursday!!!!

Coming Along

I hope you enjoyed the holiday. I know we sure did! The house is coming along. The roofers will have all of the shingles up today, the windows are in the correct places now and temporary doors have been put up. Choctaw Plumbing finished running all of the water lines and the tub/shower and faucets have been installed in the kids' bathrooms. We are meeting tomorrow to discuss the propane lines and the placement of the tank. (I will post a picture of the completed roof tomorrow.)

Overdue Update

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. The girls have been going to 2 VBS's this week and everytime I go and check the progress, I forget to take a picture. I forgot last night too but the husband was nice enough to turn around and go back. They got the roof finished yesterday and the windows put in. Upon further inspection(by us of course) we realized that a couple of the windows were put in the wrong places. During my driveby this morning, they still hadn't been changed but Choctaw Plumbing was there to run the vent pipes. Enjoy the weekend!!!!!

They finished up the soffits this weekend. Next up should be windows(as soon as they come in sometime this week) and the roof. I can't wait!!!!!!

Heads Up!!!!!

The kids and I drove by 3 times yesterday to check on the progress of the awesome framers. But because they were working each tme we went by, we didn't stop until after church.

They got all of the header boards in, the master shower is framed in and the front and back porches have the beginnings of a roof.

If I had a hammer.....

The kids and I drove by the house yesterday around 12:30pm and it was lunch time. We were a little disappointed when we didn't see any walls up. When Kevin got home from work we piled into the car and headed over to check the progress and WE HAVE WALLS!!!!!!!!! The house is all framed in!! Praise God!! The framing crew worked until almost 8pm. We just walked around from room to room in awe of the blessings God has given our family. Todd told us Monday night that framing would take about 2-3 weeks.

How much wood.....

The wood was delivered to the site today. Bella said, "It smells like Lowe's". Funny girl!!! We are meeting with Todd Isaac and Zeke, his framer, tonight to go over any questions we have before they start framing tomorrow. I just hope the weather holds out until they get it framed all in. Bella has been watching the news and everytime they mention rain she prays "Jesus please wait until they get our roof on to rain". I think these kids want in the new house as much as the grownups do.

Sand and Cement

The newest addition to the job site. The girls were upset that it wasn't green like everybody elses. Silly girls!!!

I counted 10 loads of sand.

Rebarb!!! Getting close to concrete time!

Beautiful concrete!!!!! It looks alot bigger now!

The girls passing the time while we wait for the last concrete truck. It's a good thing Brendan wasn't interested in playing with his trucks today.

The last concrete truck finally arrived. The slab is finished!!! Framing will start on Monday.

Plumb Happy!!!!

The plumber was out yesterday and got all of the water lines and drains ran. It all looks to be in the exact place as the blueprints. We drew lines in the dirt and were giving the kids(and ourselves, I'm not gonna lie!) a "tour" of the new house. Inspection is today, sand will be Wednesday and hopefully we will have a concrete slab by Friday!!!!

Going up fast

When I woke up this morning I heard thunder and all I could think was, "If it rains they won't be able to pour the stemwalls." Thank goodness it didn't rain very much or very long because when we went to check on the progress this afternoon, this is what we found.

The stemwalls are all poured!!! Praise God!!! I heard them say they will come back tomorrow(Saturday) and take the forms off. My builder, Todd Isaac(who is awesome!!), said the plumber should be out on Monday and we will be ready to pour the floor next week also.
